A study appearing in the journal Headache (2005; 45(3): 196-203) looked at 108 children between the ages of six and 17, suffering from headaches. The subjects were treated with butterbur extract daily for four months. The patients kept a headache journal. Of those receiving the butterbur extract, 77% reported a reduction in migraine episodes of 50% or better. At the end of the study, 90% of those supplemented with the herb reported that they felt improvement.
