A small study published in the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics (2001;24:369–377) examined whether chiropractic care influenced quality of life in children with asthma. The study followed 36 children who continued their regular medical care while also receiving chiropractic treatment for three months.
At the beginning of the study, participants rated their asthma symptoms and overall quality of life. After three months, children reported improved quality of life and a reduction in symptom severity. Asthma severity ratings declined by approximately 39%, and overall improvement scores ranged from 50% to 75%. These self-reported improvements were still present at a one-year follow-up.
