According to an article published in the Annals of Allergy (June 1992; 68:453–462), medications may be responsible for approximately 8% to 10% of all asthma attacks. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), commonly used pain relievers, account for more than two-thirds of these drug-induced asthma episodes. Other medications reported to trigger asthma attacks include beta-blockers, cholinergic agonists, certain antibiotics, muscle relaxants, and cholinomimetic alkaloids.
