You’ve heard it all.
Go low-carb.
Go keto.
Go vegan.
Avoid lectins.
Cut out all grains.
Eat like our ancestors.
Everyone has THE diet—and they are all convinced it’s the answer. The problem? They can’t all be right.
The Confusion Problem
Most people don’t know what to eat anymore. One expert says avoid carbs. Another says carbs are essential. One says meat is dangerous. Another says it’s the most nutrient-dense food you can eat. The result is predictable: people get overwhelmed and do…nothing. Or worse—they bounce from one diet to the next, never staying on anything long enough to actually see results.
Yes—Diet Can Help You Heal
Let’s be clear about something: Diet matters—a lot. Food can influence inflammation, the microbiome, blood sugar, immune function—everything we talk about in natural healthcare. But here’s the part that gets missed:
There is no single “perfect” diet for everyone.
The Right Diet Depends on You
The best diet is not the one trending online.
It’s the one that fits:
- your current health issues
- your digestion
- your sensitivities
- your level of inflammation
Two people can eat the exact same foods and get very different results.
A Practical Starting Point
That’s why I recommend the Roadmap to Health diet. For a more detailed breakdown of practical dietary guidelines, see Good Diet Is Just Common Sense.
Not because it’s perfect—but because it’s good enough to:
- reduce inflammation
- support the microbiome
- stabilize blood sugar
- give your body a chance to reset
Think of it as a short-term strategy to help your body heal. And, although most people will improve, not everyone will. It is not a perfect diet–just one that will help most people.
Some People Need to Be More Strict
If you have something like Crohn’s disease, IBS, or significant digestive issues, you may need to be more careful.
There may be foods that are “allowed” on paper—but still bother you. That’s where some detective work comes in. Pay attention:
- What makes you feel better?
- What makes you worse?
Your body will usually tell you—if you listen.
Be Strict…But Not Forever
Here’s where people go wrong.
They think once they start a “healthy diet,” they have to follow it perfectly for the rest of their lives. You don’t. Be strict while you are healing. Give your body a break. Reduce the load. Let things settle down. Then, as your health improves, you can loosen up.
Real Life Still Matters
You should be able to go downtown, have a Coney Island hot dog and a beer—and survive. Just don’t do it every day. The goal is not perfection. The goal is balance over time. Of course, you are better off without the hot dog and beer; the point is that you can survive it.
The Real Goal
Eat in a way that:
- lowers inflammation
- supports your microbiome
- works for your body
And still lets you enjoy your life. Because a diet you can’t live with…won’t work anyway.
