A double-blind, placebo-controlled study published in Hypertension Research (2009; 32(6):433–437) examined the effects of time-release garlic powder on blood pressure in individuals with hypertension.

Participants receiving the garlic supplementation experienced an average reduction of 7 mmHg in systolic blood pressure (the top number) and a 3.8 mmHg reduction in diastolic blood pressure (the bottom number), compared with placebo.
