Alzheimer’s Disease and Inflammation
Some researchers suggest, “The lower rate of Alzheimer’s disease in the Indian population has also been attributed to the extensive consumption of turmeric, hinting at the neuroprotective role of turmeric” [1]. Studies suggest that curcumin may support cognition and help reduce the accumulation of amyloid plaques [2].
Turmeric contains curcumin, a compound that has been studied for its effects on inflammation, oxidation, and brain health. Researchers have also investigated whether curcumin may help reduce the accumulation of amyloid plaques and tau proteins associated with Alzheimer’s disease.²
In one 18-month placebo-controlled trial, adults taking a bioavailable form of curcumin demonstrated improvements in memory and attention compared with those taking a placebo.²
Try taking 500 mg. of Curcuma longa extract 2x/day
Author’s note: The main mechanism here is reducing inflammation. The right diet can reduce inflammation significantly. Consider following the Roadmap to Health.
