Green vegetables are rich in magnesium

A randomized, placebo-controlled study published in the Journal of Asthma evaluated magnesium supplementation in 55 adults aged 21–55 with mild to moderate asthma. Participants were randomly assigned to receive either a placebo or 340 mg of magnesium daily for six and a half months.

Asthma severity was assessed using pulmonary function tests, methacholine challenge testing, and standardized questionnaires measuring symptom severity and quality of life. Subjects receiving magnesium were significantly more resistant to methacholine-induced airway constriction and demonstrated meaningful improvements in pulmonary function. The magnesium group also reported higher quality-of-life scores compared to the placebo group.
